Record Store Day

Record Store Day was conceived in 2007 at a gathering of independent record store owners and employees as a way to celebrate and spread the word about the unique culture surrounding nearly 1400 independently-owned record stores in the US and thousands of similar stores internationally. The first Record Store Day took place on April 19, 2008. Today, Record Store Day is celebrated at independently-owned brick-and-mortar record stores around the world.

Record Store Day 2025 will be on April 12, and as a RSD-pledged shop, Sound Platters will be participating. The list of limited and exclusive releases coming out this year is long. We're encouraging customers to check the list for themselves, figure out what they'd like to see in the shop, and let us know, either in store, via email, phone, or whatever way you choose! The cut-off time for requests will be Feb. 18th.

We will announce in-store event and activities (including day-of store procedures) as 4/12 gets closer. Stay tuned!
